                           Introduction to the Song
Merriment, happiness and joy are all internal experiences that are perhaps due to the profound awareness that, “All external reality is merely temporary vanity.” If the external world is but dust blowing in a cosmic wind, then who and what you are inside your brain is far more significant than what sensations may impinge upon your body. It is good to communicate with other individuals who share a desire to talk about the permanence of souls. This kind of talk is usually about religion.
One of the oldest religions on Earth is Christianity. Moses, one of the early characters in the Bible’s Old Testament is believed to have lived around 1250 BC. Christmas celebrates the birthday of Christ, who lived about 2000 years ago. Because Christ stated that he was the son of God, the government killed him. Today, there are about two billion people who consider themselves to be Christian. In the West, being able to read and explain the Bible was long considered to be an impressive educational achievement.
By 1450, when Western civilization improved the Chinese invention of printing books on paper, the Bible was already one of the most popular books in the world. With the printing press and the decrease in the cost of making books, the Bible became even more popular and widely read.
The ideas contained in the Bible inspired fierce debate, mass migrations of people to America and even contributed to bloody wars. Even at the cost of their own lives, priests, nuns and ministers have often tried to protect God’s children. Ultimately, a Christian or a believer in one of the many other religions on our planet, does not fear death because his or her soul is immortal.
This song simply expresses good wishes to everyone on Christmas and for the New Year. But the source of this song is a religion that is still rapidly gaining believers throughout the world.
